Kaoru was born and raised in Japan.

After her first child became a year old, she started to learn Wasai and Kitsuke. She continued to study Wasai while being gifted with two more children.

Kaoru then moved to San Francisco Bay Area, and after a short break, she ​started her Wasai and Kitsuke business again. She hopes of sharing her passion of kimonos with the community.
